The first stop was Bath. It was named after a time when the Romans occupied the British Isles and found the geothermal spring and erected a bath. It still stands today and holds water isn't used. Bath is also where the writer Jane Austin lived for 5 years. She apparently never liked living there but somehow her name was attached to the town and brings in a lot of tourism.
I do get the whole soaking in hot water thing. Our hot tub is one of the highlights of the day. No electronic devices - just talking - enhanced by the relaxing effects of the water.
From there we went to the town of Castle Combe in the Cotswolds. An extremely quaint and guintessentially British village. We had lunch there in a pub. Nothing special about the food but fun to be there.
It's hard to comprehend the antiquity of a place like this. It was 5000 years ago that they started building Stonehenge and it isn't the only one around. Its also curious to really not have a full understanding of the why and how. We will never know but if you let yourself imagine the parallels to the structures we have created over human civilization to connect to the divine it might not be too hard to understand.
Another wonderful day on our odyssey.
