9.18.15 Rovinj Croatia

Zadar was honestly unimpressive. It was a relaxing day nonetheless and isn't that what it's all about. Rovinj on the other hand was lovely. Narrow streets. Lots of small shops with art work. Many street side cafes along the water front and in the narrow alleys. Restaurants running in a string and difficult to tell which one you were in. Again there is an old city and a clearly newer part of town.

We did some strolling through a nice market and hung out in a cafe telling stories before heading back to the ship. The swimming dock was out so we got a swim in before a nap and cocktail hour.

This was a big evening because it was our last together with friends. I wasn't - and never have been a party person and contemplated going back to our room. The techno dance music is not in my comfort zone. Apparently leaving for the home port is a big deal on deck and so I hesitated before sneaking off and am glad I did.

We were headed back to Venice. Everyone was on deck as the anchor was pulled up and all the sails were set. We were heading west - drifting imperceptibly into an unbelievably beautiful sunset. Everyone was at the front of the boat drawn to the spectacle and energy. When the rim of the sun sun kissed the water - as if on cue - a pod of dolphins came swimming by. The sound system was playing Ode to Joy. The energy of that evening was so invigorating.

Strolling through the old town.

Peppers at the market.

Waiting for the tender to take us back to the ship.

Yes - the drinks helped with the energy of a beautiful evening.
